Anonymous asked: HxH looks really cool and interesting. Could you give me a short synopsis on what it is about please?

anorable:

Of course!!! And you’re so right in thinking it’s cool and interesting hehe!

I’ll be honest, any summary I give could do HXH no justice. It begins with the guise of a classic shounen anime/manga but proceeds to knock that assumption straight out of the water. And stomp on it. Repeatedly. But here we gooo!!!!

Hunter x Hunter is about a boy named Gon Freecss, who wants to find his father, a world-famous Hunter. Hunters are adventurers of sorts, who dedicate their lives to journey for certain goals/objects/ideals/etc. And Gon wants to become one to understand why his Dad left him. That’s the bones of the plot. But the story is so much more than that! It chronicles several arcs — some dark, some light-hearted, and some extremely heart-wrenching and poignant. War, love, humanity, family, friends— all of these ideas are explored. And Togashi (the author of HXH) loves to use symbolism and recurring themes throughout his story, weaving everything together so intricately that you’ll be in SHOCK as to how he managed to incorporate everything.

HXH is also rich with wonderful characters. The main character is Gon, and the other main characters are Killua (a boy who used to be an assassin), Kurapika (a teenager set out for revenge), and Leorio (an “old” man lol who wants to become a doctor). You see the depths of their bonds as they face countless trials together and apart. All side characters are deeply explored and nobody is a throwaway or two dimensional. Nobody is necessarily “good” or “bad”. It’s not so black and white. It’s all about the in betweens.

Basically Hunter x Hunter is a gem of an anime/manga. I would have never expected to love it as much as I do now. Give it a chance, and you’ll see just how awesome it is!!! Have fun anon!
